VULCANIZATION OF RUBBER COMPUNDS IN LABORATORY PRESSES, BY HOT AIR AND/OR IN UHF MEDIA
In order to obtain a material of rubber-like final properties, rubber compounds must be vulcanized (by vulcanization reaction). The vulcanization process is usually run in laboratory presses, where the procedure in suitable moulds under appropriate vulcanization conditions (pressure, temperature, time) is accurately controlled and thus, subsequently, the quality of final vulcanizates (vulcanized rubbers). Vulcanization may also be carried out by hot air and/or UHF radiation, as well as in salt bath chambers.
